“Yapı Kredi Bank Azerbaijan” OJSC – ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System

The ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System standard, developed by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), is an internationally recognized framework that assists enterprises and other organizations in identifying environmental impacts, evaluating their magnitude, and minimizing these impacts.

 Within the scope of its banking activities, the bank implements advanced international practices, and obtaining this international certification will contribute to the protection of the environment and the continuous improvement of activities carried out in this field. 

The main objective of establishing the Environmental Management System is to ensure that environmental impacts are taken into consideration at every stage of a banking product, from its initial development to its delivery to the consumer. Becoming the first bank in Azerbaijan to successfully meet the requirements of the ISO 14001 standard demonstrates “Yapı Kredi Bank Azerbaijan”’s commitment to preserving the country’s natural resources for future generations. 

Through this initiative, the bank also supports the target announced by Azerbaijan at the United Nations Climate Change Conference COP26 held under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, which aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 40 percent by 2050 as an additional voluntary commitment and to create a “net-zero emission” zone in the territories liberated from occupation. 

As the first bank in Azerbaijan to obtain the ISO 14001:2015 certification, improving environmental performance, contributing to the fight against climate change, and minimizing the bank’s environmental impact remain among its key strategic priorities.
