Setting a PIN code
3D Secure
When making online purchases, you can safely verify your transactions using a One-Time Password (OTP) sent to your phone under the 3D Secure protection system. Sending the OTP to your registered mobile number ensures that your card cannot be used by unauthorized persons during online payments. The one-time passwords will be sent to the phone number registered with the bank. If the number you currently use differs from the number provided during registration, please update your contact number by reaching out to the Contact Center. For more detailed information, you may contact the Yapı Kredi Contact Center at *0444, available 24/7.
Crucial Aspects to Keep in Mind When Using Your Card
1.1. What to do in case your card is lost or stolen
• If your card is lost or stolen, immediately notify Yapı Kredi Bank and request to cancel your card.
• To save time in such emergency situations, keep the Yapı Kredi Contact Center number (*0444) in an easily accessible place.
• If your card is retained by an ATM, contact the nearest Yapı Kredi Bank branch immediately.
1.2. Precautionary Measures Against Card Fraud
• Remember that the cardholder is responsible for keeping their PIN confidential. Do not share your PIN with anyone, including bank employees.
• Do not store your PIN in written form — on the card, in your wallet, or in your bag. This could make it easier for thieves or pickpockets to access your card. Memorize your PIN and destroy any written records.
• Ensure your PIN does not consist of easily guessable combinations such as your date of birth, client account number, ID number, sequential numbers, phone number, or your workplace registration number.
• Do not use passwords that you use for other online services, such as email or messaging apps, when creating your PIN.
• If you forget your PIN, contact Yapı Kredi Bank to change it or to request a new card.
• Be cautious when making online purchases with your credit card on public computers, such as those in internet cafés. Use trusted websites and ensure that the computer has up-to-date antivirus protection.
• For virtual purchases, never provide your credit card number, PIN, or personal information in response to emails requesting such information. Yapı Kredi Bank will never ask for your PIN or personal information via email. Do not share these details over the phone unless you initiated the call.
• Your PIN must remain known only to you. Do not share it with anyone over the phone, including bank employees. Do not accept assistance from strangers claiming to help you while using an ATM.
1.2.2. Card Data Usage
• After making a payment via a POS terminal, always ensure that you take your card back.
• When making purchases with your credit card, carefully check the receipt issued by the retail facility. Verify that the purchase date, card number, cardholder’s name and surname, and transaction amount are correct.
• Except for virtual marketplaces, never provide your credit card number, PIN, or personal information in response to emails requesting such details. Yapı Kredi Bank never processes transactions using PINs via email and never requests personal information. Do not share these details over the phone unless you initiated the call.
• Do not write down your credit card PIN anywhere to ensure its security. If you absolutely need a reminder, record the card details and PIN separately and keep them in different places. This helps prevent unauthorized ATM use in case your card is lost or stolen.
• Destroy expired credit cards by making the card number unreadable and rendering the card completely unusable.
• If your new credit card is not delivered within the agreed timeframe, it may have been stolen. Contact Yapı Kredi Bank immediately to check the status of your card.
• After receiving your card via courier service, under no circumstances should you hand it over back to the person claiming to be a courier.
• Since mail, telephone, and online transactions only require the card number and expiration date without physically swiping the card through a POS terminal, these types of transactions carry a higher risk of fraud. When making purchases in this manner, choose only reliable companies.
1.2.3. Use of Personal Information
• Keep track of your account statement issuance dates. If a statement is not provided on time, contact the Yapı Kredi Contact Center at *0444.
• If your personal information, such as address, phone number, or workplace, has changed since submitting your card application, notify Yapı Kredi Bank within 15 days.
• If you did not initiate the contact, do not provide personal or card information to unknown persons via phone, email, or online.
1.2.4. Account Statements and Payment Alerts
• Monitor your account statement based on its issuance date.
• Do not discard receipts until you have received your statement. Compare receipts with your statement, and if you notice any transactions that do not belong to you, contact Yapı Kredi Bank immediately.
• To avoid late payments, it is recommended to instruct Yapı Kredi Bank to regularly send your credit card statement to your email. In addition, regardless of receiving the statement by email, you must note the due date of your last payment and pay at least the minimum amount due by that date.
• If the automatic payment feature is activated for your account, ensure that sufficient funds are available to cover the payment.
• If your email address for receiving statements has changed, notify Yapı Kredi Bank within 15 days.
• Make payments regularly and carefully review your monthly credit card statements.
• For any questions regarding credit cards or outstanding balances, you may contact the Yapı Kredi Contact Center, available 24/7, at *0444.
1.2.5. Crucial Aspects to Keep in Mind for Virtual Purchases
• The website where you make online purchases should ensure security through national or international certifications.
• Do not provide personal information in response to emails or on websites requesting it, even if they display the Yapı Kredi Bank logo or name.
• When making online purchases with your credit card on public computers, such as those in internet cafés, exercise extreme caution to protect your card.
• Downloading files with extensions such as .exe, .com, .vbs, or .jpeg from untrusted websites may pose risks.
• To protect against viruses in the virtual environment, install antivirus software on the computer you use for your credit card.
• The use of credit cards for gambling and betting payments is restricted.
